Bradley International Airport’s new ‘Autism Double-Checked’ certification means that airport staff are specially trained to assist travelers on the autism spectrum, minimizing stress and helping make the airport journey a more comfortable experience. The certification is part of the airport’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that all passengers, regardless of their unique needs, can enjoy a smoother travel experience.
The training for airport staff focuses on understanding the sensory challenges, fears of the unknown, and unique needs that individuals with autism may face when navigating through an airport. BermudAir Joins the Autism Double-Checked Movement
In a move that further enhances accessibility, BermudAir, an Autism Double-Checked certified airline, has officially launched its nonstop service between Bradley International Airport and Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA). The inaugural flight, which launched on April 3, 2025, adds even more value to the airport’s commitment to inclusivity. With this new route, travelers now have the added benefit of flying with an airline that shares Bradley International’s commitment to serving passengers with autism.
BermudAir’s certification ensures that the airline’s staff is trained to understand and accommodate the specific needs of passengers on the autism spectrum, helping ensure a comfortable and stress-free flight experience. Operating twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, the airline’s Embraer 175 aircraft offers a convenient and comfortable way to travel between Connecticut and Bermuda, with the added benefit of U.S. Customs pre-clearance in Bermuda, simplifying the return process.
